About Me…

A little about me: I am a travel designer (and now a blogger) and small business owner of Lifetime Travel, a travel agency based in Roanoke, Texas. I have been in the travel industry directly for 5 years, but indirectly my whole life. Growing up in Minnesota, my mother worked for Northwest Airlines. Then when we moved to Arlington, Texas in the late 80’s, she got a job with American Airlines. Then my husband to be also worked for American and when we married, I went from her benefits to his!

Travel has always been my thing! I remember going to Disney World when I was about 5 with my grandparents. Then as I got into high school, I played flute in the band, where I got to go on some trips to the Rose Bowl Parade, to New Orleans and to the Traverse City Cherry Festival and others. I loved going on those trips so I stuck with the band in college too.  I went to Texas Tech University, where I majored in International Economics with a minor in German and was also a member of the Goin’ Band from Raiderland and got to take some fun trips with them to Tucson, AZ and all around Texas. I loved my time at Tech and had the opportunity on two occasions to study German overseas. The first one was a summer session in Graz, Austria in 1991. The second was in 1993 studying in former East Germany, which was so amazing! During those trips, I got to travel to other parts of Europe over the weekends and afterward. My “pie in the sky” dream career was to be a buyer for Pier One or some multinational company traveling overseas and shopping with other people’s money! LOL Life didn’t quite work out that way. Instead I made the decision to get married and have a family, which is rare among buyers at such companies. I will never regret that decision.

Not long after graduating I met my sweet husband, Eric. We’ve now been married 26 years and we have two awesome kids. Joshua is now 21 and Sarah is 15 and in 10th grade and our sweet Shih Tzu puppy, Molly.  I love my family more than words can say and I am so thankful that I was able to stay home with my kids pretty much their whole lives since even now I work from home.

One thing to know about me is that I am very passionate about my relationship with God and am always seeking His Presence in my life. He has been so good to me and my family and has done such a healing in my heart and my body that there is no other response than to pursue to know Him more. My desire is to hear His voice and know His Presence all the days of my life and to follow His ways. Of course, it is a lifelong journey and I fall short often, but I am always thankful for His grace. As the Lord leads me, I will share some things He teaches me from time to time in my blog and I hope it will bless you.

Other things I love is cooking and wine. I love making and eating good food and enjoying it with my family and friends. I have been a student of cooking for years and really enjoy learning new techniques and trying new recipes. I love to cook with wine! And sometimes I even put it in the food! Nothing makes me more happy after a day of work than pouring myself a glass of red wine and cooking dinner. I plan to share in my blog some of my favorite recipes from time to time. After all these years, you’d think my kid’s taste buds would be more developed than they are, but no. It is a rare meal when both kids like what I made! 🙄 I’m praying that one day their taste buds will begin to function properly! 🤣🤣 Until then, I just keep on cooking! 🙂

That is a little about me. Thanks for reading!
